Waste & Recycling

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

The purpose of the WEEE Directive is to limit the amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment being sent to landfill in Europe. In addition, it encourages the re-use, recycling and other forms of recovery of WEEE so as to reduce the overall amount of waste.  It also seeks to improve the environmental performance of all operators involved in the life cycle of electrical and electronic equipment, e.g. producers, distributors and consumers and in particular those operators directly involved in the treatment of waste electrical and electronic equipment.

What should I do with my old camera?

recycle-more.co.uk FUJIFILM do not offer direct take-back of consumer products – although of course if they are returned to us for repair and have to be replaced we will ensure the old product is disposed of in an environmentally sound manner. Our membership of PICCS (Budget Pack) means that we are meeting our obligation to fund our share of the costs arising from collection, treatment, recovery and environmentally sound disposal of the waste electrical and electronic equipment that is deposited at designated collection facilities (DCFs) across the UK. Such DCFs can be local civic amenity sites or retail    parks.

To find out your local WEEE Designated Collection Facility, check the ‘bank locator’ on the recycle-more website .
