Packaging Waste
| In order to comply with the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations 2007, FUJIFILM UK Ltd are members of the Packaging Compliance Scheme, ‘Valpak’. |
The key aim of these regulations is to promote packaging reduction / reuse / recycling / and recovery and so to divert the amount of waste going to landfill to more sustainable alternatives.
Under the packaging regulations FUJIFILM UK Ltd are obliged to complete an annual packaging calculation. Our sales figures for the previous year are combined with the packaging data for each product sold to give a total amount of plastic, wood, paper and metal in tonnes. This data is collected by Valpak, our Packaging Compliance Scheme, audited, and submitted on our behalf to the Government. We then receive a bill based on our packaging totals, the current costs to recycle each material, and the Government targets which dictate the amount of materials recycling that has to be carried out.
In this way FUJIFILM UK Ltd are contributing annually to the UK’s packaging recycling infrastructure.
